Volunteer Services is responsible for enlisting, training, and placing volunteers at our hospital and/or other McDowell Hospital Medical facilities. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles and in many departments throughout the hospital. Our Chaplains are all Volunteer Chaplains as well. VolunTEENs is also a program that allows teenagers to serve at the hospital as volunteers (Fall Semester, Spring Semester, and Summer).
Our volunteers are active members of the McDowell Hospital team and valuable contributors to the overall McDowell Hospital experience by offering a friendly face to our patients and their families, often providing comfort and reassurance in difficult times and unfamiliar settings. Volunteers also work behind the scenes to support departments and staff, enhancing our ability to provide top-quality, compassionate healthcare. During the fall, spring and summer months, our VolunTEEN program offers an opportunity for teens who want to help their community and learn more about healthcare. Every person has his or her own unique reason for volunteering. Whatever your reasons may be, you can be certain that your work will help to make a difference in the lives of others.
