Nursing Recognition

Mission Health System recognizes the compassionate, life-changing contributions nurses make to individuals, families and communities.  We honor our nurses' daily commitment to deliver patient-centered care, improve patient outcomes, and further their professional development.

Following are a few of the ways that we honor our nurses for the tireless work they perform.

The DAISY award

Over 500 hospitals around the country participate in the DAISY Award program, which recognizes and rewards exceptional nurses.   These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise  and compassionate care.  Every month two honorees are selected; each is celebrated at a public ceremony in his or her unit and presented with a certificate, an award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled, "A Healer's Touch."

The Great 100

The Great 100 is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that recognizes nursing excellence among registered nurses in North Carolina.  Its mission is, "To positively impact the image of Nursing by recognizing Nursing Excellence and providing scholarships for Nursing Education in North Carolina."  At Mission Health System, we are proud to have six nurses honored as a Great 100 nurse; this year's honorees will attend a formal gala at the Joseph F. Koury Convention Center in Greensboro on October 2th.
