Mission Children’s Specialists Nutrition Services

Infants, children and adolescents all have unique nutritional needs as they grow into adulthood. Registered Dietitians have the experience and education to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients and their families by providing individualized assessment, counseling and recommendations to assist in the treatment, management or prevention of acute or chronic disease.  When medical complications are present, adequate nutrition is essential for proper development. At Mission Children’s Specialists, your child will receive individualized MNT from one of our Registered Dietitians to assure that growth and nutritional well-being are sustained.

Our Registered Dietitians assist families with a variety of nutrition concerns, including weight management, failure to thrive, tube feeding management, food allergies, picky eating, therapeutic diets and chronic disease management. Additionally, our dietitians work with an interdisciplinary Feeding Team that helps to address feeding concerns. The goal of MNT is to optimize your child’s nutrition status through a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan.

During the visits, we gather medical history, review growth charts and current dietary intake to help determine the most beneficial nutrition plan for the patient and family.  Follow-up visits may be needed since nutritional needs change frequently in growing children.
