Occupational Medicine

Health and Prevention for Local Industries

The primary goal of an effective health and safety strategy is prevention of employee illness and injury. However, workplace accidents and illnesses can still happen. Providing access to the most appropriate and prompt medical care is critical in ensuring that employees return to work as soon and as safely as possible.

Our Goal: The goal of Mission OccuMed is to provide exemplary occupational health services to our community. We provide the personal attention and expertise that offers targeted solutions to help lower health care costs and promote a healthy workplace.

Right Time, Right Place Expertise

As part of the largest health system in Western North Carolina, OccuMed is Mission Hospital's comprehensive occupational health program. We offer top quality health screenings and medical services to businesses and industries in Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, Madison and surrounding counties with over 160 current clients. OccuMed services are tailored to meet the need of each employer and combines the highest quality care with complete customization and continuous communication.

Our Occupational Health team includes a board certified family medicine physician, specially trained mid level physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses. We are conveniently located, which means that the right care is there when your employees need it. For after-hours care, our emergency rooms provide initial treatment before referring employees back to OccuMed for follow up care.

A Simpler Solution

Mission OccuMed has partnered with a company called Wellness Works that helps integrate our OccuMed services with other Mission services, such as physical therapy and a robust primary care network, to offer comprehensive and easily accessible healthcare solutions for area employers.

Membership in the clinic through Wellness Works is complimentary for employers. Once enrolled, a profile of your contacts and protocols for occupational requirements and work related injuries will be created. Our departments can then share and integrate your protocols for testing, cost-effective treatment and minimal work disruption. Employers will also have access to the 24 hour call center through Wellness Works, which has the ability to quickly schedule appointments for your specific request to access a wide array of Mission healthcare services for your employees.

Through Wellness Works, as an employer, you have access to invaluable reporting tools that include:

  • Monthly injury tracking reports on an OSHA transferable log
