Nels Glesne

Nels' Story

Former WWII flight instructor Nels Glesne has always loved action and adventure. In his nineties, the Mission Heart team found that Nels’ left ventricle was failing. He became one of the first patients in the region to receive a Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure – which repaired his valve without invasive open-heart surgery. Now, at age 99, Nels is back in action, playing tennis, zip-lining and even wind surfing.
