New Product Approval

All new clinical products or implants that are to be considered for use in any department or unit of the Hospital must first be submitted for investigation and evaluation. Multi-Disciplinary committees evaluate all requests for new products, implants and patient related equipment.

If you are working directly with a physician or medical practice regarding an implant or device to be used at Mission Hospital, you must also work directly with Mission Hospital's Materials Management Department to obtain evaluation. Without approval, your product cannot be used in the hospital. For detailed information regarding new products see Policy # 200.088

Definitions

Implant:  Any item that is implanted in the body and remains.

Product:  Any patient-related item that is not an implant.
